Description
This handmade ceramic vase is inspired by the traditional kurinuki technique, where clay is hollowed out to create organic shapes. What makes this vase unique is my own approach to this technique. I start with a thrown base shape and refine it further, going much further than the usual kurinuki. The result is a vase that reflects my personal style.
The process always starts with experimentation. I let shapes and lines emerge without a fixed plan, making the work dynamic and unexpected. It’s a play between intuition and thoughtful decisions, where the object gradually finds its own form. For me, this process reflects the interplay between spontaneity and reflection in life itself.
Each vase is therefore unique. For me, beauty lies not in perfection, but in the small imperfections that give the work character. It’s a piece of clay in which I have left a part of myself.
