Description
This handmade ceramic mug is inspired by the kurinuki technique, where clay is hollowed out to create an organic shape. What makes this mug special is my personal approach to the technique. I start with a thrown base and work it out by cutting and shaping the clay, going further than the traditional kurinuki. The result is a mug that reflects my own style.
The process always starts with experimentation. I let shapes and lines emerge spontaneously, without a predetermined plan, making the design lively and surprising. It’s a balance between feeling and consideration, allowing the mug to develop its own character. For me, this process reflects the interplay between impulsivity and careful choices in life.
Each mug is unique. The beauty lies not in perfection, but in the irregularities that give the object character. It’s a piece of clay in which I have left a part of myself.
