Have you seen it yet? This summer, Bart and I are organizing an open day at my home/in the garden in Maastricht! I always have so many wonderful conversations, both online and at markets, that I thought it would be fun to give you a peek behind the scenes.

We cordially invite you to Saturday, August 15 to drop by. Walk-ins are free and we are open between 11:00 and 17:00.

What Can You Expect?

We will provide coffee, tea, and some treats. There is plenty to experience throughout the day:

  • Behind the scenes: I will give a small workshop and we will do a live opening of one of the kilns to let you share in the excitement.
  • Secret stockpile: You are welcome to browse through my stock. There is a bit of everything in there: items of which I only have a single one left, little experiments, and so on. All of this can go for a small price.
  • Creativity & Relaxation: You can make something out of clay yourself if you like, and cuddle Boris the studio dog.
  • Raffle: I might even raffle something off at the end of the day!

Cross-pollination: From garden to ceramics

With a bit of luck, the open day can take place in the garden. Lately, the garden has been gaining more color and shape thanks to Bart. Due to his chronic pain, working with the plants and observing the insects is a pleasant way for him to find distraction. It helps him slow down and enjoy the beautiful little things. In this way, he brings a biodiversity to life where all sorts of things grow and buzz.

And that is where our cross-pollination occurs: where he slows down, I am inspired to head into the garden with my camera. I capture the details, the life, and the colors that he cultivates with so much care. I take all those impressions back to my workbench, where they form the basis for the ceramics I create.
